GENERAL ADVICE

  • Keep smouldering, smoking objects and open flames a safe distance from all bed surfaces to prevent furniture damage or fire
  • Occasional maintenance as described below will help prolong the appearance of your bed.

WOOD SURFACES

  • Dust frequently with a clean dry, lint-free cloth. For a more thorough cleaning, the furniture may be washed with a mild soap and warm water. Dry thoroughly using a clean, lint-free cloth and wipe with the grain. A furniture polish may be applied for more shine. We recommend this type of cleaning every six months to remove accumulated dust and furniture wax build-up.
  • Only use furniture cleaning and polishing products approved by the manufacturer
  • Always follow the care instructions provided by the furniture manufacturer and the care product manufacturer
  • Do not expose wooden furniture to extreme heat or humid conditions
  • Do not place your furniture in direct sunlight or in a damp area
  • Avoid arranging your furniture so that it is placed in front of or over heating and air conditioning vents
  • Small scratches that occur with normal use can be touched up with a scratch remover or special touch-up pens or sticks available at your furniture dealer or at many paint stores.
  • Never use water, alcohol, lacquers thinner, acetone, or any alcohol-based cleaning products
  • Spilled liquids should be wiped from the surface immediately with a soft, damp cloth. Always wipe the furniture in the direction of the wood grain.
  • Do not place plastic, rubber, or hot objects directly on your wood surfaces without the use of. coasters or mats or other protective items to avoid direct contact
  • Chemicals in these objects may soften or discolor the finish. To avoid such damage, apply a strip of felt, leather, or cork under each item
  • Occasionally rotate accessories so they do not remain in the same spot for extended periods of time.

FABRIC SURFACES

  • Only use furniture cleaning and polishing products approved by the manufacturer
  • Always follow the care instructions provided by the furniture manufacturer and the care product manufacturer
  • Fabric cleaning options include: carefully blotting any spill with a clean white cloth or plain paper towel to avoid its spread, use of a dry cleaning solvent only, spot cleaning with a water-based upholstery shampoo, or use a mild detergent.
  • The actual process depends on the fabric. Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.

LEATHER SURFACES

  • Leather requires special care and the manufacturer’s instructions should be carefully followed to prolong the life of your product
  • Regularly clean the leather with an approved leather cleaner according to the manufacturer’s directions
  • Never use alcohol, lacquers thinner, acetone, or any alcohol-based cleaning products
  • Leather has inherent marks and blemishes that are naturally occurring and do not constitute a defect. These are part of the attraction of leather products
  • Damage caused by normal wear and tear may be reduced by avoiding soiling from perspiration, body or hair oils and fading
  • Protecting the product from direct sunlight
  • Always pre-test the leather with the leather care products in accordance with the care and cleaning instructions provided
  • Protect against the possibility of dye transfer from furniture accessories and rugs.

CANE & WICKER

  • Wipe the surface with furniture polish and a soft, dry cloth for regular surface cleaning.
  • Only use furniture cleaning and polishing products approved by the manufacturer
  • Always follow the care instructions provided by the manufacturer
  • Never use water, alcohol, lacquers thinner, acetone, or any alcohol-based cleaning products.
  • Vacuum with a soft brush to remove dust; hard-bristle brushes will mar the surface.

METAL

  • Dusting regularly with a clean, dry cloth is generally all that is needed
  • Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on metal surfaces, as they can damage the finish
  • Iron or steel surfaces can rust if exposed to excessive humidity, particularly in seaside locations. This is not a manufacturing fault.

GLASS

  • Wipe the surface with glass cleaner and a soft cloth to remove dust, spills, or fingerprints
  • Use an approved glass cleaner if necessary and follow the manufacturer’s instructions
  • Do not place hot items (e.g. pans, dishes, irons) directly on this surface.
